Throughout the United States' history, political cartoons have held a prominent place. For example, during the Civil War era, Thomas Nast's master of the medium was applied effectively to the defense of Lincoln's policies to support his cause during the war.
Political cartoons strike a delicate balance between telling events that seem real and true, while using wild imagination, exaggeration, and humor. This was and continues to be a proficient form of propaganda. The overall result of a product of propaganda is to drive home a powerful and relevant message that "fires up" the public to do something about a certain topic.
For example, the sinking of the Maine Cruise Ship in the Spanish/American War:

During the Spanish-American War, the public was angered, infuriated, and wanted vengeance against the Spaniards for what they've done. The reason why the public of the USA got so "fired up" was because of the message political cartoons addressed, as an example; the attack against the Maine Cruise Ship.
Posters/Cartoon drawings displayed concepts of the wreckage of the ship or women/children (passengers) drowning in the water. Wanting men to "enlist" and fight for the women and children of the United States. This was a major factor that influenced many to enlist in the military to fight against the Spaniards. The message was invoke the public of this disaster, "Spaniards attacked a US Cruise ship, innocent women and children were killed in attack, Do you want this to happen to our own people? This was the message that influenced many to enlist.

Evolution of Weaponry in Warfare
Power Changes Everything... - Libba Bray
As wars were fought throughout generations, the weaponry used has evolved; from bows and arrows, to assault rifles, to drones, and to the push of a button of a nuclear strike...
No history of a war would be complete without the overview of the weapons used in those wars, in all their varying forms. Violence and conflict have been a feature of human life throughout history. Beginning with simple weapons, soon people have developed even more advanced methods to kill one another.

For example, as of today, guided weapons like "smart" bombs dropped by stealth bombers, coupled with space based sensors and precision satellite navigation, provide a new breed on warfare..Technological Warfare...
In today's era, major countries have embraced the "Full Spectrum Dominance." The belief that victory is guaranteed through the superior capabilities of technological weaponry. Leading to more sophisticated and expensive weapons such aircraft, AI unmanned systems, drones, and infantry powered exoskeletons.

From men with clubs, to rifles, now in today's modern time all it could take to end war is at the push of a button...Nuclear weaponry.
Nuclear bombs are humankind's most destructive creation. First developed by physicists working in the Manhattan Project during World War ll, these warheads draw destructive force from nuclear reactions, releasing enormous amounts of explosive energy.
Ever since the first nuclear bomb detonated on July 16, 1945, there have been only two cases where a military force has used nuclear weapons during warfare:
The August 1945 attack on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan...
The bombings effectively ended World War ll, but ushered decades of global fear of nuclear annihilated/warfare. And to this date, the bombings of both Hiroshima and Nagasaki remain the only examples of the usage of nuclear weapons in war.

Dehumanization in War
Dehumanization is the process of stripping a person's traits of humanity, reducing them to a value of an animal. It amounts to deliberately degrading people, taking away their individuality and rights.
Governments, nations, and political leaders have often used dehumanization to manipulate the public. During war, enemies are project as people less than human and worthy of punishment. The result, abolishing this "enemy" is considered to be morally justifiable.
Dehumanization forms the crux of all warfare. The idea of dehumanizing is propagated by the government when they project the "enemy," as sub human. This is done in order to gain the support of the citizens who view the war as a form of mass murder.
For example, Hitler's actions towards the Jews during the Holocaust were acts of dehumanization. Hitler's choices led to the loss of lives of millions of people. The Rwandan Genocide, a case of atrocities perpetrated by a campaign of dehumanization, and organized by the government. Even Colonial Europeans, accused of demeaning any indigenous race or form of culture. The Europeans considered themselves inferior and felt natural to dominate other races.
